The 2026 Australian Swimming Trials continued on Day 6 with swimmers vying for their spots in the finals. The women's 50 freestyle saw Shayna Jack take the top spot with a time of 24.45, just under two tenths ahead of second-place finisher Meg Harris. Jack's swim was only five hundredths off her season best time of 24.40, and her lifetime best is 2.99 from the 2024 Australian Trials. Harris finished six tenths off her season best 24.02 and her lifetime best of 23.97 from the 2024 Paris Olympics.
In the women's 100 freestyle Multi-Class prelims, Chloe Osborn scored the most points with a time of 1:11.64, while Lakeisha Patterson (S9) finished second with a time of 1:03.49. Rowan Crothers (S10) set the top time and scored the most points in the men's 100 freestyle Multi-Class prelims, stopping the clock in 52.16.
The men's 400 IM saw William Petric take the top seed with a time of 4:15.14, more than three seconds ahead of second-place finisher Thomas Neill. Petric's swim was a new personal best, and he got out first, splitting 56.98 on the fly leg. On the breaststroke, Petric was 1:11.31, extending his lead over the field by about four seconds going into the final 100.
The women's 400 IM prelims were dominated by Jenna Forrester in 4:41.56, six seconds faster than the second-place qualifier. Forrester's swim was about eight seconds off her seed time and nine seconds off her lifetime best 4:32.30 from the 2023 World Championships. She sat in second after the first 100 fly, splitting 1:02.54.
In the men's 50 fly prelims, Ben Armbruster was the lone man under 23 seconds, earning the top seed for tonight's final. This was a new personal best for him, marking his first time under 23 seconds as he dropped from the 23.00 he set last August. Kyle Chalmers took second in 23.15, four tenths off his season and lifetime best of 22.77 from the Australian Open in April.
The women's 1500 freestyle Timed Final (Early Heat) saw Molly Young, a 13-year-old, swim the top time in the early heat, touching in a new lifetime best 17:05.47. She took almost four seconds off her lifetime best of 17:09.16 from the 2026 Australian Age Championships in April.
